We Made It to China

Hello everyone,
After a long, long, long day we finally made it to
Beijing. We've been here a day and found a computer
in our hotel. The hotel is very nice. They were full
at our reservation level so they upgraded us to a
suite. Very Sweet. Today, we went sightseeing with 2
other families in our group. We went to the Panda
House at the Beijing Zoo, the Summer Palace, and the
Hutong. The pandas were a little dirty sitting in the
dirt and mud. The Summer Palace is where the emperor
spent the summers a few hundred years ago during the
hot Beijing summers. The Hutong is the old-style
housing for a large number of people. It consists of
narrow alleys with quadrangle houses all viewed via a
rickshaw. We finished the day off with a Chinese
acrobat show. Breakfast was great, lunch was so-so,
and dinner was nice. Lisa had fun with the
squatty-potties today (unfortunately no pictures).
We're not yet able to add pictures to this blog or
view it so hopefully the text will be adequate for
now. We're doing fine and look forward to emails and
comments. Tomorrow, it's off to the Great Wall and
the Ming tombs.

Here's one of us on the Great Wall. It's steeper than it looks (that is if you think it looks flat).

I am so glad and excited for you! Five years ago, did you think you would be going to see the Great Wall as you toured before getting your daughter?
