First Day of School Foto Frenzy
Yesterday Lindy started back to preschool. She is now in Miss 'Berta's 4 year old class and this is her last year before she starts kindergarten next fall (yep, I'm already fretting about that).
It was a rainy day (yea) and that seemed to make Miss Sleepyhead move even slower than normal in the morning. The princess does NOT like to be rushed.
I snapped a couple of shots but she wasn't cooperating too well, we were running late, and I was trying not to get my camera wet or topple over in the mud.
I didn't want to take it so far away but she wanted her lunch bag in the picture. Subsequently, she covered her leggings and all you can see are her scuffed shoes. I've learned not to send her in good shoes because they get TRASHED!
Ever since she turned four in May, my normally exuberant, independent child has been going through more anxiety about new situations and showing greater hesitance when leaving me. She was experiencing a bit of that yesterday morning.
She had a great first day and came home very happy and pretty worn out, too. I am really excited for Lindy and all that she'll experience this coming school year. We're proud of you big girl!!!

Mensa should be calling any day now
The other day I surprised Lindy by serving her lunch on these lovely princess paper plates I had gotten on clearance at a local craft store. Well, it is definitely the little things with that girl and she squealed with delight when she saw them. After she cleaned her plate, she was admiring their pictures and talking about them and, of course, missing Cinderella, Aurora, and Belle. Then she said, "Momma...Ariel can't stand for this picture; she's a mermaid."
Gotta run...The phone is ringing...I bet that's the local Mensa chapter calling to invite her to the next meeting...

Lindy's Thankful Thursday
Periodically, I share a Thankful Thursday list on our family blog. Lindy and I talk a lot about a lot of things. Today I decided to ask her for some things for which she is thankful. Here is her list.
1. Mommy
2. Daddy
3. My friends
4. God
5. Food Mommy & Daddy gave me
6. Bugs--the rolly pollies...then butterflies, caterpillars, and ladybugs
7. My room
8. Pajamas
9. Clothes
10. The earth God gave us
11. Trophies, I think
12. My family and grandma and grandpa
Prayer request that she threw in: "Help my baby to come here soon."

The Best Days
One of my favorite artists to listen to these days is Taylor Sw*ift. I really, really like her songs. I don't know if I'm going through some desire to relive my youth or what but even at 41 (gasp, choke,--BREATHE) some of her lyrics hit home. On one of her albums there is a song that I just can't listen to enough and I just can't stop crying every time I hear it. It is simple, sweet, and part of it makes me just want to be a little girl again and the other part of it makes me want to stop the hands of time because everything seems to be going too fast sometimes.
I am not the first one to want to stop the hands of time from moving and I know that isn't possible. However, I can choose to make every day a "BEST DAY" with my little Lindy...
And so I share with you...
PS...Turn up the volume and you can hear the song...
The Best Day
by Taylor Sw*ift
I'm five years old it's getting cold I've got my big coat on
I hear your laugh and look up smiling at you I run and run
Past the pumpkin patch and the tractor rides look now the sky is gold
I hug your legs and fall asleep on the way home
I don't know why all the trees change in the fall
I know you're not scared of anything at all
I don't know if Snow White's house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today
I'm thirteen now and don't know how my friends could be so mean
I come home crying and you hold me tight and grab the keys
And we drive and drive until we found a town far enough away
And we talk and window shop till I forgot all their names
I don't know who I'm gonna talk to now at school
But I know I'm laughing on the car ride home with you
Don't know how long it's gonna take to feel okay
But I know I had the best day with you today
I have an excellent father
His strength is making me stronger
God smiles on my little brother
Inside and out he's better than I am
I grew up in a pretty house
And I had space to run
And I had the best days with you
There is a video I found from back when I was three
You set up a paint set in the kitchen and you're talking to me
It's the age of princesses and pirate ships and the seven dwarfs
Daddy's smart and you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world
Now I know why all the trees change in the fall
I know you were on my side even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
Staying back and watching me shine and I didn't know if you knew
So I'm taking this chance to say that I had the best day with you today
