And I thought I could handle twins?!?

"A two-year old is kind of like having a blender, but you don't have a top for it.” Jerry Seinfeld

A few weeks ago my friend pitched an idea to me. She would watch Lindy for about three hours a week and then the following week I would watch her two year old, Bethany (nine months younger than Lindy). Since I don't have Lindy in school we are together 24/7 for the most part and I don't really have any free time without her. Although it is tiring and can be difficult, I have chosen this path and I am happy to have the privilege to be a stay at home mother. I have to admit, though, having a few hours of some free time is VERY nice. I love the quiet and being able to get a bit more done without interruptions.

I also have to admit, keeping up with more than one two year old is HARD work. I can't even believe when I was young that I used to babysit four little ones at a time, work in a daycare, spend so much time with little kids, and WANT twins (actually, we requested and were approved for them when we were waiting for Lindy). I am out of practice when it comes to watching more than one and they really keep me running! My hat goes out to you who have multiples, children close in age, and those who make a career out of watching children.

It has been working out nicely. They play pretty well with each other for the most part. Occasionally, there is a bite or a scream but nothing too bad. Usually they just giggle and play. I have a hard enough time capturing Lindy on camera but I did get these quick shots of them "playing footsie" this past week...

So cute! And yes, those few hours of uninterupted bliss can be refreshing! But it's always such a treat to go back:)

Glad it is working out and they are getting along famously!

Love,
Heather

Lisa,

We requested twins too...and I am also a veteran of watching multiple children at one time...but I have to tell you...I've learned my limitations! Sometimes I can't bear to watch Jon and Kate Plus 8 because it literally makes my blood run cold!! :-)

Oh, but what a great arrangemenat you have going there...I am going to try that if I can find a taker. It IS really hard and tiring when there is no family around to ease the burden from time to time!!

Nice to see a post!!

so glad Lindy has a little friend and you have those few hours of bliss:) Isn't it funny how good it can feel to walk through a store alone for a few minutes? I always spend more on them than I would if they were with me too, because I miss them!:)

The girls are so cute together!

I worked as a nanny for years. One of the families had three kids under 5. It was a lot of fun, but a LOT of work! I actually kept in touch with them and just watched their kids for almost a week while their parents went on vacation. :)

I know you could handle twins. You're just used to one.

love that quote...

do you ever head out in the car and panic when you look in the rear view mirror and she's not there? happens to me often.

I'm glad Lindy was wearing a long sleeved shirt this last time... SORRY SORRY SORRY... maybe I'll look into a muzzle :)

Cute!

You were able to capture their energy in these photos too! They switched places on the couch! :o)

Having a friend is always so sweet!

They are so cute together. How nice to have a buddy to trade off days with! I would love to have a few hours of peace! I admire women that can handle more than one child at a time, it is something I need to work on!
