Festive Friday

I'll admit it, I have issues when it comes to doing arts and crafts with Lindy. First, unfortunately I am not very gifted in this area, so I feel a bit inept. I want to do stuff but sometimes I just don't know where to begin. Second, I am always worried about the mess. Third, my nature to want to control situations rears its head, even when it doesn't matter. If Lindy wants to color the moon green, why can't she? She's two. The whole process makes me kind of nervous. I know that probably sounds silly but it is true.

However, I was watching Super Nanny the other night (go ahead and laugh) and it was so obvious the parents weren't doing anything with their kids. It was sad. These miserably, atrociously behaved kids were crying out for interaction with their parents and they really didn't get much. It was quite sad. It reminded me how important it is to take time to do fun stuff with her, even if it is messy and a bit out of my comfort zone.

So, today we decorated Easter eggs. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I did this. She was so excited and I tried to be laid back about the process. We didn't even get that dirty. I guess she liked it because she said, "I love you Mommy. You're my best friend" over and over.

Here are some pictures...

Lisa,

I never miss a minute of that fabulous Super Nanny. Just this morning when I gave into Lia asking for chips at 10 am, I imagined in my mind how Super Nanny might be rolling her eyes at the camera if she had been here. Sigh. We all do what we can!

The pictures are just dear. The look on Lindy's face says it all. It was a day you will remember for a long time...good for you!! Lindy is very lucky indeed to have such a best friend as you!! :-)

Yea for you - now,try coloring outside the lines...yeah, I can't do that one either!

It looks like you both had a great time. Nothing better than her professing her love for you -what a great way to spend the day!

Happy Easter, Happy Bunnies!

looks like you had a fabulous time, and believe it or not even with 4 I am the same way about the mess. Thats why you see way more pics of Caitlyn making sand cakes versus real cup cakes. I can't stand for my kitchen to be out of place.
Happy Easter love the pics.

Yeah Lisa!! I'm so proud of you! As "Crafty" as I am, I still struggle with the mess and the outcome (brown skies, pink and rainbow grass, etc.....) But they do LOVE it. Her eggs are beautiful!

Way to go! I'm like you, I've never dyed eggs with my kids. I've worried about all the same things. Lindy looks like she had a blast doing this, and how sweet that she said you're her best friend over and over.

Oh Lisa....we are so alike. I echo your senitments EXACTLY regarding crafts (the mess and the control). SO hard. But iahve been trying to get better at it. We dyed eggs too. Good for you for trying! She obviously loved it.
