It is Lindy's blog, so it is time for another Lindy story...
The other night at church Preacher Mark (one of Lindy's favorite people) was talking about our giants. He was using the story of David and Goliath as the basis. Lindy seemed to be completely immersed with her activity but every once in a while she'd hear Mark say, "David," "slingshot," "five stones," "giant," "Goliath," or "Bethlehem," and she'd repeat them full voice--and I do mean FULL voice. We would whisper to her and confirm Mark was telling the story about David and Goliath to which she would mimic twirling a sling, act out a rock hitting the giant between the eyes, and then pretend to fall over as she was hit.
Yesterday, as I was preparing dinner, I had some Bible songs on for her. A song (I had never heard) came on about David and Goliath and as soon as she heard it she said, "Mommy a song about David and Goliath, just like Mark." What??
Of course I was a little shocked and amazed both times that she was listening and acknowledge I am proud of her. However, does this ever serve as a reminder to me as a parent. I might think this little thing who is in constant motion is not listening or paying attention but I am SO wrong. I need to remember to always be on guard and do the right thing because those little ears are really not so little and I'm thinking those eyes are seeing everything, too.

She is so sweet. Yes, the "thinking they aren't listening thing" has come back to haunt me. And they seem to have an excellent memory for things like that too. Can't remember that I told them to put their shoes on two seconds ago but can remember something negative I might have accidentally said 2 months ago. Keeps us on our toes and humbles us.
Kids truly are amazing! Love her pink ensemble! Too cute.
love,
Shauna
That is just really cute! I love when that happens. I might say to a big brother, "Keep you-know-who you-know-what!", and Libby translates for them, "Keep me awake... it isn't time for me to go to sleep yet!" It is sobering, for sure! (Thanks for your kind words on my blog!)
she's a sharp little girl!
Ooooh Lisa - she is so on the ball! I love that she is getting the meaning of Bible stories and internalizing them this young - really important step and will mean a world of blessings in her life:)
Those pink boots are way too cute - I need a pair of those!
Love,
Heather
Wow, that is good stuff! That must have really made you smile to know that she remembered that. They do hear more than we think they do.
I love her precious pink outfit and her little pink uggs. So cute!
could she be any cuter?!? i can just picture her acting out the lesson. maybe if they put her on stage to "interpret", there would be a bigger crowd on sunday nights :)
so sweet~
What a sweet story....and I also LOVE the pink ensemble...Lindy could not look any cuter or more fashionable!! I want a pink coat like that! :-)
Kate
Ditto on wanting a pink coat. Lindy is my style guru! Although I have to say, her pink boots looker cuter on her than mine do on me. ;)
There isn't a slow one in the bunch with that group of kiddos. It is absolutely astounding to me to see them grow and soak up life like they do. I love it!
Oh precious Lindy! How bright she is and how right YOU ARE! For a SAHM it sometimes overwhelms me that it is me that models MOST of the day to my children. I pray that the Lord will give me the tools to and the knowledge to parent his children. Even bigger ... I pray for GRACE as I know that I mess up something daily with them!
I love hearing Lindy stories! She just couldn't be any cuter!
Love the pink coat!
And it is amazing how much our little ones can take in by just listening! Often times, we don't even know they have caught on until days later :)
Cute picture and cute story!
wow she is listening. Jacob and Caitlyn are my big listeners too.
Adorable in pink :)
Cute little Miss Lindy!
It's amazing how much those little bitty ears hear and how much those little bitty brains understand!
Love all those little seeds that are being planted. :o)
Pure sweetness!
